Marquette King makes another plea for Marshawn Lynch to join Raiders
20 March 2017, 06:47 | Ross Houston
No matter what any of the latest Oakland Raiders rumors might state or what any National Football League analyst might report, until the former Pro Bowl running back issues an official statement, Seattle Seahawks fans are still left with one major question this offseason: Is Marshawn Lynch unretiring or not? In fact, Beast Mode retweeted a tweet over the weekend that speculated about him playing for Oakland.
This Lynch-to-the-Raiders story, birthed by ESPN, is real. The Seahawks would prefer to trade Lynch and receive something in return. The Seahawks would have to either trade Lynch or release him. However, what would Seattle demand and would the Raiders agree? Since the Seahawks have very little salary cap space and Lynch would count $9 million against the cap in 2017 if he came out of retirement, there's a decent chance his wish would be granted. He nearly certainly would have to accept a pay cut to join the Raiders.
King suggests Seattle won't block Lynch's path to Oakland "as a favor" to a player who spent parts of six years with there and remains popular in the Seahawks locker room. Before that season, Lynch had four consecutive seasons of over 1,200 yards rushing.
The Seahawks could also choose to play hardball in this situation and refuse to simply cut Lynch so that he could play for another franchise. He seems to be enjoying retirement and he reportedly did not spend a dime of his money from salary, instead only spending money he's earned from endorsements.

Lynch has been quite adept at keeping his name in the news even though he's not playing.
