Trustees to vote on new Auburn University president
The Auburn University Board of Trustees named Iowa State's Steven Leath as the university's 19th president after a vote during a special meeting at the Student Center on campus today.
Alabama newspaper The Opelika-Auburn News, says Leath is likely a top candidate for the new Auburn University president.
Gogue became Auburn University President in 2007.
The 59-year-old had previously served as vice president of research at the University of North Carolina. The two-time Auburn graduate is known for engaging with students, supporting faculty and creating a strong university partnership with the local community.
Auburn University's current president Jay Gouge during the 2011-12 fiscal year made $2.5 million - which at the time was the second highest salary for public college presidents in America.
