House committee grills Comey and Rogers on Trump and Russia: key points
"With respect to the president's tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, I have no information that supports those tweets, and we have looked carefully inside the FBI", FBI Director James Comey told the powerful House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
In his opening statement, Comey confirmed - for the first time publicly - that the FBI was investigating "the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election".
"Yes. I understood the question to be about the report itself", Comeysaid. "You should be talking to Fox". And I look forward to working with him so we can get this bill passed, in some form, so that we can pass massive tax reform, which we can't do until this happens.
But the Trump administration has rebuffed any contention that its campaign aides colluded with Russian officials in that cyberattack.
"Were there USA persons who were helping the Russians in any way?"
The wiretapping allegation is part of broader investigations by the FBI and lawmakers into the conclusion by the country's intelligence community that Russian Federation meddled in the election in an effort to help Trump defeat his Democratic challenger, former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Comey also did damage to Clinton, however, by blasting the Democrat for being "extremely careless". He was named national security adviser, but resigned from the White House last month after he was found to have misled senior members of the administration about his contacts with Russia's top diplomat to the U.S.
One of the options could be Wilbur Ross, Trump's 89-year-old newly confirmed secretary of commerce.
On Sunday, Ryan said the bill will also be changed to provide more assistance to older people.
Clippers beat Knicks for 10th straight time
Griffin had 30 points in three quarters, and watched the Clippers reserves preserve their second straight win to improve to 42-29. Carmelo Anthony said he's loved living in Los Angeles across the years and dropped enough hints his time may be done as a Knick.
Trump and his entourage's possible ties with Russian Federation under President Vladimir Putin have been the subject of much speculation since before Trump was elected on November 8. Reckless, even. But the genius part was revealed Monday as Democrats continued to chase the red herring through much of Comey's. testimonies.
"Comey: The FBI Is Investigating "Whether There Was Any Coordination" Between Trump Camp and Russian Federation", read the headline to a brief Breitbart post that quoted Comey's remarks on the topic at length.
Leaders of the intelligence committees in both chambers had previously said repeatedly they'd they have seen no evidence to substantiate the explosive claims, and the White House has, still, publicly offered no proof of the allegation.
He said that talking about closed investigations was different. But Comey said the intense public interest in the matter - and permission from the Justice Department - made it appropriate to do so. "Our ability to share details with the Congress and the American people is limited when those investigations are still open, which I hope makes sense".
But Comey did say he wished the bureau could have been more aggressive in warning the DNC in hindsight.
Rogers and Comey both testified that despite the intense Russian hacking and propaganda effort aimed at public opinion, no actual votes in the election were compromised.
When he was asked what the committee expects from the hearing, Jack Langer, a spokesman for Nunes, gave a substantial list. Roger Stone was a long-time associate of Trump's who "worked briefly on the campaign", Spicer said. "They have talked from time to time", but the press secretary was unsure of the last time Trump had spoken with Stone.
Comey said Monday that Russian Federation "hates" Clinton and wanted her to lose the election; he added that officials believe both political parties were hacked in 2016, but only Democratic emails were released.
Bears re-sign Prosinski to one-year deal
He played 82 percent of the Bears' special teams snaps last season and ranked third on the team with seven special teams tackles. Prosinski, a six-year veteran, has played on all four special teams along with fellow stalwart Sherrick McManis.
'Rowan Atkinson Dead' Tweet Was A Hoax. Twitter Exhales
He's also appeared in a Snicker's advert presumably because Rowan Atkinson wanted to buy a vehicle or something else nice. While some actors star in adverts that western audiences will likely never see, Rowan Atkinson has done an entire movie.
