US Lawmaker: 'No Evidence Of Collusion' Between Trump Campaign, Russia
He is Democratic Representative Adam Schiff of California.
Congressman Schiff, welcome back to the program. That's not done unless there is specific and credible information or evidence that someone is colluding. "I think that is an important point that gets overlooked over and over and over again", Spicer said. "It is nearly as if they didn't care that we know what they were doing, or that they wanted us to see what they were doing".
Rep. Schiff clearly hopes that the American public will buy his story even if the Federal Bureau of Investigation eventually says it can find no evidence to support it.
"Obama's Central Intelligence Agency director said so".
And, of course, that's not what the directors said. It's not their mission, their job or their expertise to say what effect the Russian interference had in terms of outcomes, but clearly they interfered with the electoral process.
And here's the problem.
The House committee will hold a second public hearing on March 28 with former US officials, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan.
How can we have confidence that the president is being truthful? And the short answer is, if he keeps this up, we can't.
Comey made the comment during a congressional hearing on Russia's suspected efforts to meddle with last year's presidential election.
Obviously, if Iran isn't cheating, that's a big problem.
"So President Obama could not unilaterally order a wiretap of anyone?" "I hope you and the American people can understand".
The intelligence community and relevant congressional committees have also concluded that the president's claim of wiretapping has no basis in fact.
The only confirmed crime discussed at the hearing concerned the leaking of classified information. "This story is FAKE NEWS and everyone knows it!"
Republicans are saying they're leaking all over the place.
In his opening remarks, Congressman David Nunes, Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence alleged that the Putin regime has a long history of aggressive actions against other countries, including the outright invasion of two of its neighbours in recent years as well as its brutal military action in Syria to defend the Assad regime.
"We have no information to support them [the tweets]".
"Leaks have always been a problem", Comey said.
What seems to really upset the administration is a different kind of leak.
Flynn departed in February after reports revealed that he misled Vice President Mike Pence about pre-inaugural conversations he had with Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak. That's a leak that discloses malfeasance in the administration.
"The fact that Russian Federation hacked United States election-related databases comes as no shock to this Committee, which has been closely monitoring Russia's aggression for years", Nunes said.
That's essentially the president's original tweet on this. The Russians did. And if Nunes would consider country before party, he'd recognize that the cloud isn't over Trump's White House; it's over all of us.
"Wouldn't it be great if they told the truth about Obamacare", Trump said about reporters.
Classified leaks Before Comey had finished his testimony both the USA president and press secretary Sean Spicer were tweeting comments and links to Comey's assertion during the hearing that classified leaks to the media had been "unusually active" in the last couple of days.
Comey's testimony ensures that the controversy over Trump's connections to Russian Federation will continue to dog his tenure as president and slow down the President's efforts in Congress. Well, maybe somebody wanted Michael Flynn out among the president's own team.
"This work is very complex, and there is no way for me to give you a timetable for when it will be done", Comey told the House intelligence committee. "You're seeing that play out to some extent in European elections right now", Rogers said.
This was a odd claim, especially because if you watch the video, Rogers makes clear that, when asked about whether Russian cyber actors changed vote tallies in MI and other states, he replied: "I would highlight we are a foreign intelligence organization, not a domestic intelligence organization".
Pak-Afghan border crossings to open temporarily, says FO
Islamabad also sought to use the closure as a tool to pressure Kabul to act against militants with sanctuaries across the border. Islamabad has long blamed Afghanistan for terrorism in Pakistan and not taking adequate action against terrorists there.
