MOGADISHU, Somalia- A local TV cameraman working for UK-based Somali channel, Universal TV, Abdihamid Mohamed Karzay has been critically wounded in auto bomb blast in Mogadishu on Sunday, Garowe Online reports.

The bomber detonated near the Weheliye hotel on the busy Maka Almukarramah road, Capt. Mohamed Hussein said.

It did not damage the hotel, but destroyed a nearby house. "The death toll may rise further", Abdikadir Abdirahman, director of aid-funded Aamin Ambulance services, told Reuters.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the auto bomb attack.

Hours before, a minibus exploded after police shot at it after it refused to stop as it approached a checkpoint in the capital, police officer Nur Osman told Reuters news agency, adding that two people were wounded.

Capt Mohamed Hussein, a Somali police officer confirmed that Karzay was seriously wounded, after an explosive device was fitted to his vehicle and exploded in Hamarweyne district en-route to his workplace.
