Borussia Dortmund attacker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is already looking beyond the global break and is desperate to beat Schalke in the upcoming Revierderby on April 1.

The win consolidated third spot in the table for Dortmund, who are three points adrift of RB Leipzig and four clear of Hoffenheim.

Aubameyang passed a late fitness test to return to the Dortmund team as one of three changes and he was the man to open the scoring after just 14 minutes.

The Gabon worldwide struggled at the Nations Cup on home soil, but has improved dramatically in recent weeks, scoring nine in his last five, and will look to help the Panthers in their upcoming global against Guinea on Friday.

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke was pleased to avoid an all-Bundesliga clash against Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League after Thomas Tuchel's side were drawn against Monaco.

Ingolstadt stay second from bottom and have now won just one of their last seven in the league despite a courageous performance that saw them denied what looked like a strong penalty claim for forward Dario Lezcano in the second half.

Bears re-sign Prosinski to one-year deal
He played 82 percent of the Bears' special teams snaps last season and ranked third on the team with seven special teams tackles. Prosinski, a six-year veteran, has played on all four special teams along with fellow stalwart Sherrick McManis.

Ingolstadt kept pushing but missed several good chances to punish a disappointing Dortmund performance. After good work by Marcel Schmelzer on the left, Aubameyang confidently prodded Schmelzer's cross past Martin Hansen.

Ingolstadt should have restored parity before the break but for all that custodian Buerki was on guard to deny both Almog Cohen and Sonny Kittel from close range.

Straight after the restart, Leckie fired well off target when a mix-up between Matthias Ginter and Sokratis Papastathopoulos gave him a golden opportunity.

However, Dortmund lived dangerously in the second half and were far from convincing as Ingolstadt grew in confidence with Australia forward Mathew Leckie leading the attack.

Dortmund get a much-needed break before their next game, which is at Schalke on April 1.
