White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer lost patience with a reporter on Monday

In his opening remarks during testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on Monday, FBI Director James Comey confirmed that there remains an "open and ongoing" criminal investigation into the possibility that members of the Trump campaign or transition team colluded with alleged Russian interference in last year's presidential elections.

"A separate tweet referenced James Clapper, the director of national intelligence under President Barack Obama, who has said that Trump's allegation that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower is false". "Putin hated Secretary Clinton so much that he had a clear preference" for Trump, Comey said.

Comey's comments represented his most explicit intervention yet in the controversy over what United States intelligence agencies have assessed was a Russian attempt to disrupt the election - and a string of counter-claims against the previous administration leveled by Trump himself.

Russia's government did not even believe Trump would win the election, by the intelligence community's own admission, and focused the latter part of its influence campaign towards undermining Clinton's future presidency.

The Jan. 6 report does not take up the question of contacts between Trump associates and Russian Federation.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer today told reporters Trump isn't withdrawing his allegations.

Two weeks ago on "Meet The Press", James Clapper, the Director of National Intelligence under President Obama, denied that any evidence of such collusion existed while he oversaw the work of us intelligence agencies.

"They wanted to hurt our democracy, hurt her, help him". The House Intelligence Committee will hear from FBI Director James Comey on whether U.S. officials believe Russian Federation tried to bolster Trump's chances in the election and if there were any connections between Moscow and Trump's campaign aides.

Russian Federation denies it attempted to influence the November 8 presidential election by hacking Democratic operatives and releasing embarrassing information.

In February, Norway also said spear phishing attacks had targeted email accounts belonging to political officials in the country - those, too, similar to tactics used by a suspected Russian hacking group.

Yes, it is indeed true that it would be unfair to shout "Lock him up!" based on an incomplete FBI investigation - just ask Hillary Clinton if you'd like to know exactly how unfair. "Mr. King, it's not something I can comment on", Comey replied. "Russia's goals were to undermine public faith in the US democratic process, denigrate Secretary Clinton, and harm her electability and potential presidency".

Flynn's failure to tell the truth about those calls led to the request for his resignation.

"We'd have sent up a much larger flare", he said.

Comey would not talk Monday about specific cases or confirm newspaper reports, but said that leaks about classified activity were "terrible".

Smelling Trump's bullshit through his phone, Representative Jim Himes then pulled up the president's patently misleading tweet and read it back to the two directors, asking "that's not quite accurate, that tweet?" "They'll be back", Comey warned Monday. Trump countered, as you might expect, by blaming Democrats for the FBI investigation, and said what should be investigated are the leaks.

Earlier on Monday, ahead of the House hearing, Trump took to Twitter to attempt delegitimizing the Russian Federation story, which he has done vigorously since his stunning November electoral victory.
