President Donald Trump loves to play golf.

In fact, Manafort was hired in late March as Trump's convention manager, and was promoted to campaign chairman in May.

"The suggestion that I ever worked in concert with anyone to release hacked emails or sought to undermine the interests of the United States is false", Manafort said in a statement.

When he wasn't answering questions about FBI Director James Comey's testimony before the House Intelligence Committee, Spicer also fielded queries about golf and the Mar-a-Lago during today's White House press briefing. He went on to call the allegations "a blatant attempt to discredit me and the legitimacy of the election of President Trump".

Spicer wrongly claimed that Manafort was brought onto Trump's campaign "sometime in June and by the middle of August he was no longer with the campaign".

The White House on Monday defended President Trump's frequent golf-playing and trips to golf courses by suggesting that Trump - who previously had blasted President Barack Obama for his own golf habit - is getting actual presidential business done on the links instead of just working on his short game.

Page was an unpaid foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign who had extensive ties to Russia and met with Russian officials. Spicer asserted that no evidence has been presented to suggest cooperation between Trump associates and Russian operatives.

One America News's Trey Yingst asked about Trump, according to Mediaite: "Is he under the impression that the Clinton campaign had inappropriate contact with Russian Federation during the election?"

"Obviously there's been discussion of Paul Manafort, who played a very limited role for a very limited amount of time", Spicer said. According to Politico, it costs about $3 million each time Pres. Trump travels to Mar-a-Lago.

"For Mr. Spicer's sake, let me be clear once again: Though I have not seen specific evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian officials, there is quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that suggests collusion may have occurred, including confirmation just this morning that the FBI is investigating potential collusion between the campaign and Russian officials", Coons said. Majority Republicans concentrated their questions on leaks of classified information and media reports on issues such as contacts between former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russian officials.

"Just to be clear, I'm not dismissing Paul Manafort as a hanger-on", he said, before referring to Carter Page and Roger Stone: "I was noting some other folks that Jonathan pointed out".

The inquiry includes "individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia's efforts".
