We're Living For April The Giraffe's Birth Live Feed

April the giraffe labor updates and latest Animal Adventure Park news as April prepares to give birth

April's fans continue to keep tabs on her through the live stream, which has over 100,000 viewers at any given time, and through updates posted by the upstate NY zoo on its Facebook page, which has over one million followers.

As of early Monday morning, the world is still waiting. These include lack of appetite, indications of soft contractions and even manure that hints at imminent birth in its size and consistency. For the past month, fans have been eagerly watching a live video feed from April's stall, hoping to see the baby's arrival in real time.

Both April and Oliver enjoyed outdoor time Sunday with April soaking in the sunshine and air from her doorway. "Yes, she will have this calf when she is good and ready", the veterinarian said.

A discharge was reported earlier in the week.

Giraffes are pros and hiding their labor, but Patch explains there are certain signs he looks for that he believes are her contractions.

The new calf will be April's fourth, according to Animal Adventure Park. April also continues to be a bit out of character.

Animal Adventure Park expected to welcome a new baby giraffe over the weekend, but that didn't happen. No, watching after April is not my only job. The camera was back up soon after. As of late Monday, the pregnant giraffe showed no sign of going into active labor.

April's popularity led to a sponsorship from Toys "R" Us, which has long featured the fictional "Geoffrey the Giraffe" as its mascot. Animal Adventure Park takes pride in their indoor housing and the level of enrichment and cares to keep the giraffes happy and healthy. "Made possible in part by their sponsorship, Animal Adventure Park will be donating $25,000 to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation!"

In the meantime, those who've been keeping up with Animal Adventure Park's live cam might have noticed a change in April and Oliver's routine.

The little giraffe won't be all that little.

Boy or girl, the calf is expected to weigh around 150 pounds (68 kilograms) and be about 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall at birth.

The video stream initially launched in February and attracted moderate interest, but after a YouTube user flagged it for "sexual content" and nudity, the feed quickly went viral and generated a massive following. Patch blamed "a handful of extremists and animal rights activists" for the interruption.

April has been with Animal Adventure Park since September 2015 and this is her first calf birth at the park.
