British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson says London will most probably support Washington in the event of further missile strikes on Syria.

On April 6th, the United States launched a military strike on a Syrian government airbase in response to a chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of civilians earlier in the week.

The US airstrike this month was the first direct military action taken against President Assad by the US.

"It is my belief, though I stress no such decision has yet been taken, that were such a request to be made in future, were it to be a reasonable request in pursuit of similar objectives, then I think it would be very hard for the United Kingdom to say no", the Independent quoted Johnson as saying.

Former foreign minister Alistair Burt asked Johnson whether the government felt bound by a previous vote in 2013.

According to the Trump administration, the attack was created to stop the Assad's regime from using chemical weapons on his own people.

'The essential thing will be to have a political process that preserves the institutions of the Syrian state while decapitating the monster'.

Johnson also commanded UK's own efforts in investigating the chemical incident in Khan Sheikhoun, claiming that it is "thanks in large measure to UK diplomacy, the United Nations now has a joint investigative mechanism with a mandate to identify any party responsible for chemical attacks in Syria".

Whilst speaking to the Commons, Mr Johnson encouraged Russian Federation to end its "blind support" for Mr Assad following growing tensions between the west and Russian Federation over the right course of action to take in Syria.
