United Will Not Fire Employees Over David Dao Incident

She would not say who would testify for United.

The panel's chairman, Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Pa., and top Democrat, Rep. Peter DeFazio of OR, jointly announced their plan Wednesday.

The U.S. House Transportation Committee said Wednesday it plans to hold an upcoming hearing on commercial airline industry consumer issues after a passenger was dragged off an April 9 United Airlines UAL.N overbooked flight in Chicago to make room for crew members. A date for the hearing has not been disclosed. Security was called and after a violent tussle with the passenger in his economy class window seat, the medical practitioner was dragged off apparently unconscious with two teeth missing, a broken nose and concussion.

To Metrorail I would simply say, borrowing from the United Airlines passengers: What are you doing to the poor? "Our entire leadership team and our entire airline is focused on learning from this event", he said.

"The flight 3411 incident, while undoubtedly a public relations disaster, will most likely not materially affect United's medium- to long-term financial and operational performance". United also faces a Thursday deadline from the U.S. Senate Commerce Committee to answer detailed questions about the incident.

Spokeswoman Maggie Schwerin said that the policy changes were being put into place to ensure incidents like what happened to Dao "never happen again", the Hill reports.

Davis, a transportation committee member, co-authored a provision previous year that requires airlines to seat children age 13 or younger next to an adult or older child traveling with them.

Last week shocking footage of passenger Dr David Dao being forcibly removed from a flight went viral.

"Many of us who fly frequently have experienced overbooking situations", Lipinski said, "but obviously how it was handled in this circumstance was unacceptable, and no passenger should ever be put through what this individual was".

Other airlines have chose to increase their compensation offers for such passengers.
