Charlie Murphy, the older brother of Eddie Murphy and a comic performer in his own right who acted in movies and turned encounters with celebrities into memorable sketches on "Chappelle's Show", died April 12 in NY.

Chappelle appeared on stage at Mayer's Columbus, Ohio, concert Wednesday night and told the crowd "everybody in comedy is heartbroken" about Murphy's death from leukemia.

"Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle, and friend Charlie", the family said in a statement. The crowd obliged him and listened to Mayer elegantly play on the piano his ballad, "You're Going to Live Forever in Me". "You were doing a show for 120 people. Our friend, Charlie Murphy". Before Mayer started performing, Chappelle issued a poignant request that the audience completely ignored.
