Larson's "Short Term 12" writer/director Destin Daniel Cretton wrote and directed "The Glass Castle", with Andrew Lanham as co-writer. But he's reunited with his old collaborator for a new movie, and the first trailer has just arrived. Oscar victor Brie Larson stars as journalist Jeannette Walls in an adaptation of her bestselling 2005 memoir about her upbringing by her dysfunctional parents: her alcoholic father Rex (Woody Harrelson) and her artist mother Rose Mary (Naomi Watts).
The film, based on the memoir written by Jeannette Walls, centres on a successful New York-based journalist who is trying to escape her poverty-filled past. As a kid, she and her loving but highly dysfunctional family would constantly be moving from town to town and often would be squatting in abandoned houses. "You shouldn't be ashamed of us because we chose a different lifestyle than you", her mother Rose Mary (Naomi Watts) tells her.
The Glass Castle looks to be split into two time periods: one of them focuses on Larson playing an older version of Walls who has moved to the city and left her free-spirited parents behind, and the other recounts her turbulent childhood in flashbacks.
