Referee Steinhaus promoted as 1st women in Bundesliga

Soccer-Bundesliga signs up first woman referee for next season

A 38-year-old police officer will become the first woman to referee a top-flight soccer match in Germany next season after being promoted to the Bundesliga, the country's football association (DFB) said on Friday.

And later became the first Englishman since Jack Taylor in 1974, to referee a World Cup final.

Steinhaus is one of four new refereeing appointments that were confirmed at a meeting today.

Referee Bibiana Steinhaus has been promoted to the Bundesliga for next season and will be first women working games in Germany's top division.

And she took charge of the women's gold medal match between Japan and the United States of America at the 2012 Olympic Games. It was simply a turbulent roller coaster ride of emotions.
