Roger Ailes's LegacyMore
He bought an oceanfront home in Palm Beach for $36 million shortly after leaving Fox News and declared himself a state resident, according to public records.
JUDY WOODRUFF: Late today, the medical examiner in Palm Beach County, Florida, said that Ailes died of bleeding on the brain.
As I spoke about Ailes yesterday in television and radio interviews, I thought of Ailes's victims, who were denied the closure of seeing their sexual-harassment lawsuits against him go to trial.
His wife Elizabeth announced his death in a short statement read out on Fox News by emotional news anchors.
AINSLEY EARHARDT: Roger believed in hard work. In April 2012, I ran into him during a party at The Four Seasons, shortly after I had returned from a reporting trip to his childhood hometown of Warren, Ohio.

Her accusations were followed by claims of harassment from other women, including Fox News host Andrea Tantaros.

He defined Fox as patriotic, implying that competing journalists didn't care about their country. "May he rest in peace", conservative media watchdog Brent Bozell. He created a television juggernaut that transformed the news business. Ruddy also points to another factor. "RIP Roger Ailes a good friend, great American and communications genius @StoneColdTruth", - author and political adviser Roger Stone.
JOE MUTO: Trump equaled the ratings. In the era of Donald Trumpthat overlap has been attenuated somewhat, and that has been a challenge at Fox - and beyond.
MUTO: People really went nuts for him.
It was arguably during the Obama years that the network took its sharpest turn to the right, often fixating its coverage on what it dubbed the president's war on American values and fanning the flames of conspiracy theories that included Obama's birthplace.
"He just felt very passionate about what he was doing", Chandler said.
But if Fox was reluctant to embrace Trump during the antagonistic Republican presidential primary, the channel jumped on board after he clinched the nomination. O'Reilly was sacked his top-rated show at Fox in April after reports surfaced that the network had settled lawsuits with five women who alleged he sexually harassed them. He didn't discuss the news so much as ridicule the reporting of others.
KELLY: Here was the CEO and chairman of the board on industry publications as the most powerful man in news harassing young women of the company like myself who had been there for 12 months and who typically were in a vulnerable position.
He attended Ohio University, in Athens, where he acted in plays and worked at the radio station. "But somebody put a frame around the hole and wrote, 'Don't mess with Roger Ailes"'.
