"I really love what I do"says, Kimberly Guilfoyle"

20 May 2017, 02:13 | Darnell Patrick

Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle told the San Jose Mercury News that she met with the Trump administration and discoursed about holding a position as a press secretary in the White House's press operations.

It's the latest in a series of rumors and rumblings about Spicer that started nearly since Day 1 of Trump's administration.

A senior White House aide also told the Daily Mail on Wednesday that the idea of Guilfoyle in the White House press room is "a total non-starter".

She was reportedly considered for press secretary during the transition, although Spicer ultimately beat her out.

Spicer is expected to keep his job but be more behind the scenes.

Rumors of Fox's Kimberly Guilfoyle being a possible replacement for Spicer were debunked by the White House and seemed to be self-serving.

"If you want to be successful and do communications with President Trump, you have to be someone who he actually wants to spend a little bit of time with", said Guilfoyle, per the news group.

Ms Guilfoyle, a TV personality who co-hosts The Five, said she thought it would be both a "fascinating" and "challenging" job which would require the input of someone who was both committed and concentrated.

Trump had been seriously considering curbing Spicer's role, or firing him altogether, and with the White House in tumult this week - after Trump's firing of FBI Director Comey, news that Trump disclosed classified information to Russian diplomats inside the Oval Office, the emergence of a memo by Comey alleging that Trump asked him to scrap an investigation into his former national security adviser and, finally, the appointment of a special counsel to take over the Russia probe - Trump apparently felt it was the right time to make a move, Politico reported. Another president, I won't use names but another president doesn't do what I'm doing. they really don't.

Last week, Trump said on Fox News that he might do away with press conferences altogether.

Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle says she'd be honoured to work for US President Donald Trump. "It has to be somebody with a very close relationship, where there's trust there, there's inherent loyalty, someone who's been there from the beginning", she said last week.

"I think I have a very good relationship with the president", Guilfoyle said.

A Fox spokesperson described Guilfoyle as a "valued numbers and conveys a message from Guilfoyle in the statement, "As I stated in the interview, I really love what I do and my job co-hosting The Five is tough to beat".
