GOP is hiding something in Senate health-care bill

Several Democrats have admitted Obamacare needs fixing, but that abandoning it for the Republican replacement - known formally as the American Health Care Act - is not a viable option.

Hillary Clinton put on the boxing gloves once again to fight back against the forthcoming Senate healthcare bill.

Trump said it was hard to weigh competing forces while drafting the bill, but that the bill revealed by the Senate this week was a good start. Veteran Senator John McCain said the draft bill was better than Obamacare in "100 ways", but like many Senators wanted to study the bill further and consult with his state's governor.

As one of five Republican senators that announced opposition to the bill in its current form, Paul said he would consider voting for partial repeal of Obamacare, if there's a stalemate, but argued the Senate bill "isn't anywhere close to repeal".

President Trump on Sunday confirmed recent reports that he denounced the House health care bill as "mean" - and he wanted to make sure he got credit for it.

Rand Paul, who has rejected the plan along with fellow Republican Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Ron Johnson, said fundamental problems remained that would leave taxpayers subsidizing health insurance companies. It is believed the president wants to see a more generous bill pass through the Senate. "It doesn't protect Nevadans on Medicaid".

Cheered on by the White House, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is focusing on finding the votes he'll need to push the Republican plan for dismantling President Barack Obama's health care law through the Senate.

Sandoval said he would do "everything in my power" to make sure those people can maintain the quality of life they now have.

Just hours after McConnell released the 142-page legislation on Thursday, four conservatives said they opposed it.

CBO analysis of the bill predicts that 23 million Americans would lose their health insurance, while the top 1 percent of Americans would enjoy $306 billion in tax cuts over 10 years.

"There isn't anything in this bill that would lower premiums", he said. It contains some key differences from the version the House passed last month.

Trump said getting approval would require travelling a "very, very narrow path" but that "I think we're going to get there".
