The committee has also been tasked with deciding on the contracts that will be handed to the coaches, including the head coach. We have set up a committee and they will speak to them (CAC), communicate with them after talking to Shastri.
Interestingly, that means that the Cricket Advisory Committee's decision to appoint Rahul Dravid as batting consultant and Zaheer Khan as bowling consultant for overseas tour will be revisited. Also, Shastri has made it clear that he is okay with Zaheer planning the course of action for the bowlers in the team and someone like a Bharat Arun implementing them on a daily basis. The meeting will be convened by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri.
CoA says that CAC's job was just to recommend names for head coach and other supporting staff while CoA will decide about the appointment.
In flawless synchronisation with the already-existing drama over the appointment of the coach of the Indian cricket team and the consultants to the head coach - namely Zaheer Khan, as the bowling coach, and Rahul Dravid, as the batting consultant for overseas tours - the chairman of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), Vinod Rai, said on Saturday that no contracts have been awarded to either Khan or Dravid.
In their letter, they have reminded BCCI and CoA that they had been given complete freedom in selecting the coach of the Indian cricket team.
Weighing in on the incumbent coach Ravi Shastri's statements, wherein he had expressed his desire to choose his own consultants, Rai mentioned that the final decision on who would be the part of the team's support staff would be taken after consulting the head coach. An answer to all these questions is expected to come out at the COA meeting in New Delhi on Saturday.
"Three appointments which are core to the coaching team have been decided. A recommendation has been made and the CoA has to act on the recommendation, that recommendation will be acted upon in consultation with the head coach", he added.
India will play their first Test on July 26.
Earlier, the CAC members had also written a letter to COA chief Vinod Rai seeking more clarity on the issue. "And we have reacted to each one of those things".
After the meeting, BCCI invited applications for "Team Manager" for senior men's, India A and India U-19 respectively.
