The US national team concluded Group B play at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 3-0 victory over Nicaragua on Saturday at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio, clinching the group win with a late goal by defender Matt Miazga. Joe Corona scored his first global goal in four years in the 37th minute and Kelyn Rowe doubled the lead in the 56th with his first worldwide goal, but the USA squandered opportunities when Dom Dwyer and Corona took poor penalty kicks in the second half that easily were saved by Justo Lorente.
With Panama's 3-0 victory over Martinique earlier in the day, Team USA knew coming into the showdown with Nicaragua it needed to win by at least three goals to claim the top spot in Group B. The pressure was lessened since the US had already secured a spot in the knockout phase.
U.S. Coach Bruce Arena made 11 lineup changes for Saturday night's Gold Cup match against Nicaragua.
Four minutes into the second half Dwyer was yanked down in the penalty area and the referee immediately pointed to the penalty spot. Due to their scoring seven goals in group play to Panama's six, the USMNT gets the top spot in Group B. It again was Bedoya setting up the score with an assist.

Luis Copete picked up his second yellow card in the 85th minute and was ejected, leaving Nicaragua down to 10 men. The USMNT got another opportunity with Graham Zusi taking a free kick from just outside of the box.
The U.S. has finished on top of its group in 12 of its previous 13 CONCACAF Gold Cup appearances.
