Milan have made contact with Bayern Munich regarding a loan deal for Renato Sanches, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed.

United made their desire to sign Sanches last summer public, and there has been some talk that they could try again for him this summer, though he doesn't now appear to be a priority in midfield.

Sanches arrived in Germany to great fanfare last season, fresh from Portugal's success at UEFA Euro 2016.

After the signing Sanches in May last year, the 19-year-old has struggled to make a real impact at the Allianz Arena.

Sanches will have added competition for a starting place at Bayern next season.

According to reports in Portugal, Milan are keen on taking the talented youngster on a €7 million loan deal for two seasons, with the option to buy in 2019 for an additional €40 million.

Backed by new Chinese owners, Milan have been busy in the transfer market, signing Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci as well as Andre Silva, Lucas Biglia, Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez, Hakan Calhanoglu, Andrea Conti, Franck Kessie and Fabio Borini.

I have the impression that AC Milan are not ready to meet our economic demands, and as long as (that is the case) nothing will be done.

Rummenigge also ended speculation that Bayern could sign Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez.

'We'll decide when we've completed our shopping whether to keep him here or loan him out for a year, ' Rummenigge explained. "That makes no sense".
