Sarah Cummins 25 was due to marry her fiance Logan Araujo in Carmel Indiana on Saturday but called off the $30,000 wedding a week ago

A woman from Carmel, Ind., who was supposed to get married this weekend will instead spend the day helping the homeless, the IndyStar reports. "I've worked so many weekends and so much overtime to pay for this, I wanted to make sure it would be the flawless wedding", Cummins explained, adding that she plans to stay for the dinner with her mom and her two sisters as long as she doesn't become too "emotional" to stay. She declined to give a reason but said they were left with a nonrefundable contract for the Ritz Charles in Carmel and a plated dinner for 170 guests.

Left with a non-refundable event on her hands - Mr Araujo had paid for a large part of it - Ms Cummins chose to host the homeless to dinner instead.

"It's just a really great opportunity for us, that was going to be a huge tragedy in her life", Erik Jensen, a resident of Wheeler Mission - an in homeless shelter - and guest at the party, told The Indy Star.

"For me, it was an opportunity to let these people know they deserved to be at a place like this just as much as everyone else does", she said.

Party guests will certainly eat well: Cummins says chicken breast with artichokes and chardonnay cream sauce, bourbon-glazed meatballs, and goat cheese bruschetta are on the menu.

"It's just a really great opportunity for us, that was going to be a huge tragedy in her life", Erik Jensen who lives at Wheeler Mission homeless shelter said at the party.

On Saturday evening, residents from homeless shelters in Indianapolis and Noblesville shuffled into the Ritz's enclosed garden pavilion dressed to the nines in clothing donated by community members. The homeless guests then dined on the wedding cake.

Woman found dead after Melbourne stag do
It is believed she returned to the hotel room on the 10th floor of Oaks on Market with the men on Saturday night. The men were part of a group from Sydney and the ACT who were in the city celebrating a Bucks weekend.

Cummins said she called everyone to cancel the wedding and apologize, then called the vendors, while crying all the time. They leave for the Dominican Republic on Sunday.

'I will at least have some kind of happy memory to pull from, ' she said.

Mr Araujo, whose mother reportedly died recently, said in an interview that he had agreed to Ms Cummins' proposed solution.

'It was really devastating.

"I was so touched that Sarah had taken a painful experience and turned it into a joyful one for families in need", Herzog told the paper.

Cummins' ex-fiancé says he's also happy with the decision to put the venue to good use.
