According to his Avengers co-star, Don Cheadle, though, the real reason Universal won't play nice is because they want to make money and they "clearly" won't be able to do so with Ruffalo in the lead. Let's just hope it is satisfying because Mark Ruffalo also made it clear in an interview with Variety at D23 that a Hulk solo movie won't happen. That's still Universal's property, so there's that issue.
Unfortunately, even today, Marvel and Universal have not yet agreed on anything regarding "Hulk". It was a very polarizing movie, directed by art-house filmmaker Ang Lee and patterned to actually look like a comic when it came to transitions and scene structure.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals
Adam Frazier's game-ending single capped a two-run rally in the ninth inning that lifted Pittsburgh to a 4-3 victory Sunday. The threat ended when right fielder Gregory Polanco doubled Gyorko off first on Yadier Molina 's line drive.
The reason, however, has nothing to do with the character's popularity, but instead lies with the fact that a different studio now owns the rights to the character and has already made two Hulk movies: 2003's Ang Lee-directed "Hulk", starring Eric Bana, and 2008's "The Incredible Hulk", starring Edward Norton. "That's four or five, I think", he said. If you agree with that sentiment, then you are probably going to enjoy Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4.
Mark Ruffalo will appear in "Avengers: Infinity War" as Hulk, but his character will not have a standalone film.
That doesn't seem like it will happen, Ruffalo told an intrepid reporter at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.
