Eight army personnel among 15 martyred in Quetta's Pishin stop blast

Explosion in Quetta, Pakistan at least 15 people killed, 32 injured

At least 15 people have been martyred and dozens wounded - some of them critically - in a bomb attack on a military truck in a high-security neighbourhood of Quetta on Saturday night.

According to ISPR, an army truck was the main target of the terrorists. "Our resolve won't succumb to any challenge", Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted.

Other officials in the area, including the spokesman for the Balochistan government, also confirmed the toll although medical officials had earlier put the number of casualties at eight killed and 17 injured.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), media wing of the army, confirmed a vehicle of security forces was targeted in the blast that killed 15 people, including seven citizens.

"It would be unfair to call the incident a security lapse", Bugti said.

Security forces reached the scene and cordoned off the area.

The blast took place near Mehdi Hospital at Pishin Stop.

The bomb went off at the busy Pishin Stop triggering a fire on several vehicles parked nearby.

Police and rescue officials soon reached the spot and have started rescue work and at least 15 injured were moved to Quetta's Civil Hospital.
