'GLOW' Season 2 is Coming, as Netflix Cancels 'Gypsy' After One Season

Naomi Watts' psychological thriller Gypsy has been canceled by Netflix after just one season.

The show followed the exploits of psychologist Jean Holloway (Watts) as she gets way too involved in her patient's lives, leading to distance between herself and her husband (Billy Crudup) and an affair with a local barista and ex-girlfriend of a patient (Sophie Cookson).

Viewer reception must have been similar - or just lacking overall - as Netflix has decided not to give the show another chance. Gypsy only lasted for a single season before earning the company's banhammer, something that perhaps isn't surprising given its relatively mild launch and mixed bag of reviews.

"Oh, how I'll miss these faces - and characters - but privileged and honored to have created this show, and worked with such an incredible cast and crew, along the way,"creator Lisa Rubin writes in an Instagram post about the show's cancellation". Rubin, Watts, Liza Chasin and Rudd Simmons served as executive producers.

Netflix has yet to confirm or comment on the cancellation, but CEO Reed Hastings said in May that the streaming service would be taking a harder look at how they decide to renew shows.

And there's still some good news for Netflix binge-watchers this week: The streaming giant renewed GLOW, about the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (including Alison Brie!), for a second 10-episode season to debut next year.
