Scaramucci on firing: 'What happened was sort of meant to happen'

When asked if he thought he deserved to be fired, Scaramucci said, "Well, obviously I wished they would've given me a bar of soap and told me to wash my mouth out in the bathroom and move on".

Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci on Sunday said he thinks what happens with his White House role was "sort of meant to happen".

Scaramucci spoke to ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on ABC News' This Week Sunday in his first television interview since his whirlwind 11-day stint in the White House.

"It's actually terrorism and whether it's domestic or global terrorism, with the moral authority of the presidency, you have to call that stuff out", he said.

In his first televised appearance since he was ousted from his White House post, Scaramucci told This Week host George Stephanopoulos that - were he still Trump's communications director - he would not have written the fiercely criticized statement Trump gave on Saturday, shortly after the auto attack that killed a 32-year-old woman and injured several more.

"The odds were stacked against me in that job", Scaramucci told ABC News, adding that the president wanted him in the post but "probably 200" others did not.

"I made an unforced error that made it easy to dismiss me", he said of the New Yorker interview. But I think it's important for the people around him, George, to give him direct advice, to be blunt with him.

Scaramucci is scheduled also to appear Monday night on CBS' "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert".
