He told reporters after the meeting that he had sought the Centre's approval for the state legislation giving exemption for Tamil Nadu students. One of the longest running demands of Tamil Nadu politicians has finally come to an end with this decision of the Centre.

She emphasised that the Ordinance must specify that the exemption was sought to help rural students to get admission in government medical colleges, The Hindu reported. This made it hard for even high scorers in the State to stand tall with their CBSE counterparts.

The state health minister Vijayabaskar confirmed that the state government will submit a draft ordinance in this regard to the Union government on Monday.

Rural students face difficulty in getting admissions.
