Sandalwood star Upendra to launch his own political outfit
In a 13 minute audio clip, the actor has stated reasons as to why he chose to form a new party.
In an audio clip circulated online, Upendra expressed his desire to launch what he called a "truly democratic party" where "money plays no role".
He said, "I will not comment on the symbol of the party or the party name for now because we need to get the approval of Election Commission". He recommended a "test" for candidates to pass before they are given ticket.
7 rescue workers shot dead in Syria
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the seven volunteers had all been killed by bullets to the head. Although its volunteers work in exclusively rebel-held areas, the group insists it is not partisan.
Popular cine actor, Sandalwood Real Star, Upendra, whose films often espouse Bohemian political ideas, is set to take a political plunge. "We do not need leaders who make excuses but the ones who can find permanent solutions to our problems", he said. We have Pawan Kalyan who heads a party here and in Tamilnadu there Rajinikanth will be starting his party soon and Kamal Haasan has similar plans. He says like most of the electors he was also forced to choose a party which was a bit less bad among the others, every time while voting in the elections. Emphasising on Prajakiya rather than Rajkiya, he said that need of the hour is Prajakiya (people-centric democracy). I will take that responsibly and I will do it. Waxing philosophical, he added: "I believe in the Bhagavad Gita verse Karmanye Vadhikarste Ma Phaleshu Kadachana (you have a right to perform your prescribed duty, but you are not entitled to the fruits of action)". No big public meetings will be held. "I will take the first step to establish a party where money, caste and religion won't matter", he declared. You won't also see big banners or posters of my party.
Upendra said he was neither afraid of failure or arrogant of possible victory. Meanwhile, he is also expected to meet BJP President Amit Shah who is on a three-day visit to Karnataka.
