The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced India's squad for the upcoming ODI series and lone T20I against Sri Lanka, with veteran Yuvraj Singh being the notable exclusion. All rounder Yuvraj Singh and batsman Rishabh Pant have been dropped, while in-form Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been rested. Seamer Shardul Thakur and legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal were drafted into the 15-man squad, which also features the fit-again KL Rahul, an in-form Manish Pandey and Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the West Indies series.
Kuldeep Yadav, who was a part of India's team that toured West Indies recently has also been retained. He made an impressive comeback, leading India A to a tri- series triumph in South Africa, with 307 runs. The Mumbai batsman has been named as the vice-captain of the squad.
Left-arm spinner Axar returns to the Indian team for the first time since October 2016, when he played the last of his 30 ODIs.
