Florida suspends 7 players for season opener against MI

Florida star wideout Antonio Callaway is one of seven players suspended for the Gators' season opener against MI, the team announced Sunday. Included among those players is leading wideout Antonio Callaway.

Florida head coach Jim McElwain made the announcement Sunday in a statement.

The other Gators suspended are junior defensive end Keivonnis Davis, freshman offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort, redshirt freshman defensive lineman Jordan Smith, sophomore defensive lineman Richerd Desir-Jones, freshman linebacker Ventrell Miller and freshman linebacker James Houston. Action has been taken - they have missed some practice and will miss the MI game.

Callaway was cited for pot possession earlier this spring.

The suspended players will hope to be able to return for the team's second game, which comes against Northern Colorado on September 9.
