Pittsburgh Pirates use big third to top Toronto Blue Jays

Jameson Taillon pitched six innings to snap a three-start winless streak, Josh Harrison had two hits and the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 on Friday night, their seventh win in nine games.

Toronto starter Marcus Stroman (10-6) allowed four hits, one walk and four unearned runs in eight innings.

The Blue Jays catcher was seen grimacing during his first inning at-bat after he appeared to slip running out of the batter's box on a ground out to third base.

With one on the first, Donaldson put Kuhl's fastball into the second deck in left for his 15th home run of the season.

Nationals' treasure Harper hurt in win
Harper, 24, left Saturday's game with a.326/.419/.614 batting line, 29 home runs and a 1.034 OPS through 472 PA in 2017. Harper pulled a hard grounder that looked like an RBI double before it found Jones' outstretched glove.

Pittsburgh opened the scoring in the top half of the first on an RBI single from David Freese.

For a moment, it seemed as if the Toronto Blue Jays were going to need to go the extra mile to pick up pitcher J.A. Happ on Sunday. Measured at 452 feet, it was Donaldson's longest homer of the season.

The Pirates (58-60) have dropped three of their last five.
