Major Breakthrough In Srinagar BSF Camp Attack, Say Home Ministry Sources

Srinagar Smoke billows out of the building where militants were believed to be hiding during an encounter with the security forces following their attack at a BSF camp near the international airport in Srinagar on Tuesday

These organizations include security person from Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Badgaanv Police.

The "heavily armed" and "highly trained" militants of the JeM suicide squad, named after Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru, stormed the camp at Humhama at 4.15 a.m.

Piecing together the chain of events, PTI reported police as saying the militants entered the BSF's 182 battalion headquarters through a damaged perimeter wall and started firing in all directions.

"All the three militants have been killed".

The Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Tuesday that the militants who attacked a BSF camp here belonged to the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terrorist outfit and said such attack will continue "as long as Pakistan is our neighbour". While three others were killed during the Pulwama encounter when they attacked a police complex the others are still on the run.

At least 70 people were killed in those protests, and hundreds of civilians have been blinded by pellet guns as security forces cracked down on demonstrators in the aftermath of Mr. Wani's killing.
