Microsoft Edge is online for Android phones

At least, parts of it.

Microsoft Edge for iOS is available now in preview, with the Android version coming soon. The web browser is now in preview for iOS and will be coming to Android soon.

Its main goal is to give a continuation between your PC and Android experience (ie encourage lock-in) and works in a similar way to Apple's "handoff" feature.

In a related development, Microsoft also had one more announcement to make. For Android users, it will be available soon via Play Store's early access. Edge browser is the next Microsoft product to get a similar treatment as the company has announced its availability on the two popular mobile operating systems. The iOS version of Microsoft Edge is based on WebKit rendering engine by Apple whereas the Android version is based on Chromium.

Both Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge collapsed last month despite Microsoft is improving the browser with every new release of Windows 10. The Redmond giant has added "Continue on PC" feature to it which will allow users to conveniently send an image or link from their phone to Windows 10 PC.

"Edge iOS: right now we require users to be Windows Insiders with a recent RS3 [Redstone 3] build", Belfiore wrote. The bad news here is that not everything on Edge will be on the iOS or Android browsers. Over the past few years we've seen the rise of Microsoft made apps for Android and iOS. And, Microsoft Launcher is available starting today in preview as well.

The Microsoft Launcher brings about a major design overhaul to the Arrow Launcher. It's a successor sort of.

Those who are on the Arrow Launcher beta will automatically get the Microsoft Launcher because the latter is the newest incarnation of the former.
