Blade Runner 2049 falls short during opening weekend

Blade Runner 2049 Flopped at the Box Office Because Women Weren't Rushing to See It

All that changed, of course, after money-hungry Hollywood producers started to realize that even the worst sequels to successful movies could still make them boatloads of money.

The film rolled out in most major markets over the weekend, grossing a strong, but not spectacular, Dollars 50.2 million for a global bow of USD 81.5 million. Pictures were hoping for a big opening weekend for the film at the box office. There were also two other new films that finished in the top four for the weekend.

"Blade Runner 2049" may repeat as a weekend victor against two new films opening in wide release this weekend - STXfilms' Jackie Chan action-drama "The Foreigner" and Universal-Blumhouse's horror entry "Happy Death Day".

Jeff Goldstein, of Warner Bros, said Blade Runner 2049 had disappointed in smaller cities and in the South and Midwest, where the running time and baseball playoffs appeared to have deterred moviegoers. "It's a tough one, because Denis made a lovely movie", Warners domestic distribution chief Jeff Goldstein said.

Wisconsin TE Troy Fumagalli not listed on Badgers' injury report
Wisconsin ran on eight of 10 plays in a 93-yard drive for the go-ahead touchdown with Quintez Cephus scoring on a five-yard pass. Nebraska is down to its third running back but it appears that Devine Ozigbo might be the best option going forward.

Bucs sign kicker Patrick Murray
Murray has a career field-goal percentage of 80.8, which is a lot higher than what Folk has given the Bucs this year. The 26-year-old spent 2015 on injured reserve, then appeared in two games with the Cleveland Browns in 2016.

Companies attending will also include Balfour Beatty (L:), WPP (L :), Morgan Stanley (N:) and AB Foods (L:), the government said. May, however, struck a confident tone during her speech on Monday, telling MPs: "I believe we can prove the doomsayers wrong".

Men over 25 accounted for half the audience, according to PostTrack, with women over 25 making up 27%.

"We did well in the major and high-profile markets", he added.

Based on the Charles Martin novel, the film - which has had mixed reviews - stars Elba as a surgeon and Winslet as a journalist who are left stranded together following a plane crash.

Fox's opening of survival drama "The Mountain Between Us", starring Idris Elba and Kate Winslet, was the weekend's runner-up, coming in slightly below projections with a moderate $10.6 million at 3,088 venues. The feature film to the hit children's TV show stars the voice work of Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, and Uzo Aduba. A Warner Bros. executive said he remained optimistic about the future performance of "Blade Runner 2049", pointing to the overall A- CinemaScore and strong word of mouth.
