However, Sharif and his two sons were absent as they are in London where 67-year-old Sharif's wife is battling throat cancer.

Referring to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan, who has refused to appear in several cases, Maryam said the "absconders are free and hold public meetings".

Sharif's sons - Hassan Nawaz and Hussein Nawaz - who are British nationals, have opted for not appearing before the court.

The NAB has filed three cases of corruption and money laundering against Nawaz Sharif, his sons, Maryam, son-in-law, and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

Muhammad Bashir, judge of the accountability court, is hearing the references against former Prime Minister Nawaz and his family members.
