Twitter to soon come out with an option to bookmark tweets to save them

Twitter to Introduce a New Bookmarking Tool

Twitter has now confirmed that it's planning to launch a bookmarking feature which will enable users to save tweets that they want to check out later. You could either Like a tweet or by DMing it to your self. But from now, Twitter users will be able to bookmark the tweets so they can do whatever they want with the bookmarked tweets.

Soon Twitteratis can bookmark their favourite tweets, instead of retweeting or liking them to save them or messaging it to themselves or maybe taking screenshots.

Twitter hasn't announced a release date for the upcoming feature, but you should expect updates in the coming weeks. As revealed, the traditional "send via DM" will be deprecated, and replaced with an overflow menu that reveals the aforementioned feature, and the new "Add to Bookmark" option.

I can see Save For Later becoming as popular as the Like option on tweets. The heart icon, for example, can be taken as people marking their favorite tweets, not as people bookmarking them to reference later.

With that in mind, it looks as though bookmarking will appear as a feature in the near future.

Steven Spielberg Signs Deal with Apple to Bring Back Amazing Stories
Whether or not these new players will attract an audience will likely depend on content, not distribution mechanism. For those too young to remember, Amazing Stories was a sci-fi/horror series that ran rom 1985 to 1987 on NBC.

At the moment Twitter is experimenting with the feature, it's in initial stages and the social media app is looking for the response from the people as they show the designs and research on the feature.

A prototype shared by Shah shows a new "bookmarks" feature that can be accessed by tapping the "more" menu - three buttons on Android, a downward arrow on iOS - in each tweet.

Shah also revealed that users now make do by Liking or sending tweets to themselves via DM.

There's no timeline for the feature's launch but Twitter is seeking user feedback on the feature as it builds it.
