Prosecutors guarantee Tellis lied over and again to agents about investing energy with Chambers in the prior hours she was found with consumes on 93 percent of her body.
Circuit Judge Gerald Chatham, right, waits for Lisa Chambers to regain her composure as she recalls her final interaction with her 19-year-old daughter, Jessica Chambers, during the capital murder trial of Quinton Tellis in Batesville, Mississippi on October 10, 2017.
Several firefighters testified Tuesday and Wednesday in the trial of Quinton Tellis in Batesville, Mississippi, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Memphis, Tennessee.
The murder trial for 19-year-old Jessica Chambers is underway. Prosecutors say Tellis set Chambers and her auto on fire in a rural back road and left her to die.
Those who spoke to her at the scene of the crime in Courtland testified she said "Eric set me on fire", and prosecutors worked to combat these reports, asking the first responders about Chambers' health status, what the area around and inside her mouth looked like, how well she was able to speak, and about the volume of her voice and the volume of the two diesel fire trucks surrounding them. "I asked, 'Who did this to you?' She replied, 'Eric.' I asked again, 'Baby girl who did this?' and she replied, 'Eric, '" Davis said, reading his statement in court.
"At a certain point I even set down close to her", said Cole, battling back tears.

Sears Canada to Seek Court Approval for Liquidation
Executive chairman Brandon Stranzl had been working on a bid to save the company but has so far been unsuccessful. However, on Tuesday, the retailer said that "following exhaustive efforts, no viable transaction" was received.
Tellis' lawyer Darla Palmer was up next. Champion said he believes Tellis suffocated Chambers and thought he had killed her.
Emergency medical responder Brandy Davis also read his statement aloud at the request of defense attorneys, in which Davis reports hearing Chambers say the name 'Eric'. Chambers later left home, and then called Daugherty to say she was getting something to eat. She was trying to answer questions. Palmer said that Chambers, who was "alert, able to speak", told at least eight first responders a man named Eric was responsible for burning her and her auto. Wednesday, she asked them to read their statements, many of which emphasize Chambers' accusation that Eric was responsible for setting her on fire.
Palmer also stressed the apparent discrepancy of Jessica's description of her killer. She didn't know the person's last name.
Cole Haley, who was Fire Chief for the Courtland Volunteer Fire Department on December 6, 2014, took the stand next. Authorities have said about 20,000 telephone numbers were analyzed as part of the investigation.
Tellis faces another murder indictment in Louisiana, where he's accused in the torture death of Meing-Chen Hsiao, a 34-year-old Taiwanese graduate student at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Witnesses will include cellphone data experts, Champion said. A trial date in Louisiana is pending the outcome of his trial in Mississippi.
