Theresa May offered the recently inaugurated president a State Visit in January
Donald Trump is set to visit Britain as early as January in a scaled down "working" trip that would not see him meet the Queen or stay at Buckingham Palace. He was not aware of any other discussions on a separate working visit, Reuters reports. If Trump's trip is a working visit, he will likely stay at the US ambassador's residence, according to the Standard.
The Foreign Office said that the state visit would go ahead eventually, but "Our position on the State Visit has not changed - an offer has been extended and President Trump has accepted".
Newest plans for his visit no longer include a meeting with the Queen, a key part of state visits to the United Kingdom from major worldwide leaders.
There was also a public backlash, with nearly two million people signing a petition saying the U.S. president's "well documented misogyny and vulgarity" disqualified him from an audience with the Queen.
The Trump administration immediately dismissed the report, adding that the trip, expected next year, is still in the planning stages.
However the speculation came to nothing. The offer had been extended, accepted by Mr Trump, and no dates had been arranged. Which I'm sure Theresa May is devastated about, seeing as how she seems to want to sort out a post-Brexit trade deal to replace all the trade we probably won't be doing with the EU.
