PSG Chairman Subject of Criminal Investigation Over World Cup Bribery Claims
A Swiss court has opened a corruption probe against Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the Qatari businessman and chief executive of Paris Saint-Germain, and former Federation Internationale de Football Association secretary general Jerome Valcke.
Swiss prosecutors also allege Valcke received "undue advantages" from a businessman who was not identified to award certain media rights for four World Cups from 2018 through 2030.
The statement added that the suspects were under investigation for alleged bribery of a private individual, fraud, criminal mismanagement and document forgery. Valcke denied any wrongdoing in this case.
"beIN Media Group refutes all accusations made by OAG".
"The company will fully co-operated with the authorities and is confident as to the future development of this investigation".

Swiss prosecutors on Thursday announced they were opening a new criminal investigation against a former Federation Internationale de Football Association chief and two businessmen for alleged corruption offences related to the soccer World Cup broadcasting rights.
The 2018 and 2022 World Cups will be played in Russian Federation and Qatar respectively, while the 2026 and 2030 tournaments have not yet been awarded.
The French former TV presenter was in Switzerland on Wednesday to testify at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in his appeal hearing against a 10-year ban by Federation Internationale de Football Association for financial wrongdoing and abuse of expenses.
"Following a request by the office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG) the beINSPORTS office in Boulogne-Billiancourt (France) were searched this morning", the statement read.
Since FIFA's much-discredited executive committee picked Russian Federation and Qatar in December 2010, the gas-rich emirate has bought up PSG with sovereign wealth and installed Al-Khelaifi as president. PSG paid Barcelona a record Euro 222 million (USD 264 million) for Neymar and Al-Khelaifi vowed that the acquisition would bring the Champions League title to the Paris side within two years.
