Twitter 280 Characters, Number Replaced With Circle For Limit

Twitter to expand 280-character tweets
TWITTER has granted everyone the ability to write 280 character Tweets.
Twitter is expanding, literally.
The change is part of Twitter's plan to attract new users and increase growth.
"In September, we launched that expanded the 140 character limit so that every person around the world could express themselves easily in a Tweet", a Twitter blog post confirming the expansion of the character limit read.
The social media company says this is because they see a small percentage of tweets posted using the full 140 characters in certain languages. During the 280-character tests, that number fell significantly, according to a graph of English-only tweets provided by Twitter.
"We believe people spent less time editing their Tweets in the composer", said Rozen. This change in the app was given to specific users to test how it would go over among English-speaking users and Twitter must have decided it went over well because on Tuesday it announced the change would be rolling out to all users. Some Twitterati think brevity is the soul of the service and worry the longer form will ruin what's special about it.
However Japanese, Korean, and Chinese users will continue to have 140 characters "because cramming is not an issue in these languages". Rozen said users with the longer character count earned more likes, retweets, and mentions, along with more followers.
The announcement comes just a few months after Twitter started testing a 280-character limit for a set number of users around the globe, courting concern from users who were anxious that banishing brevity would clog up their timelines.
Users have already employed clever tactics to stretch beyond 140 characters, such as screenshots of longer messages or tweetstorms, a series of connected tweets.
'People did silly (creative!) things like writing just a few characters per line to make their tweets extra large. "But importantly, people tweeted below 140 most of the time and the brevity of Twitter remained". We expect to see some of this novelty effect spike again with this week's launch and expect it to resume to normal behavior soon after.

Significant storm damage reported in Jay, Mercer counties
The National Weather Service also believes straight line winds created the heavy damage in Williams, Henry, and Fulton Counties. A round of severe storms battered parts of IN and Ohio Sunday, causing structural damage and churning up possible tornadoes.
