Rutgers turned in solid numbers in the latest Graduation Success Rate report released by the NCAA
Five University of CT athletics teams posted ideal Graduation Success Rates (GSR) and a total of 13 Husky squads performed at 90 percent or higher, as announced by the NCAA on Wednesday, November 8.
The four-year average graduation rate for Towson student-athletes exceeds the overall Division I Football Championship Subdivision average. GSR data is based on a six-year cohort prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education with all scholarship student-athletes across the country who entered college in 2010 considered.
With a Graduation Success Rate of 90 percent, Penn State student-athletes tied the university's all-time record. Student-athletes who graduated in May of 2016 realized a 95 percent career-placement rate.
"This honor goes to our student-athletes who don't always get the credit they deserve for not only working long hours to represent our university on the field of play, but spending even more hours pursuing success in the classroom".
Auburn Athletics' federal graduation rate was 69 percent, matching last year's program best.
Four of Baylor's sport programs earned a flawless GSR score of 100, including men's golf, women's golf, soccer and women's tennis.
Donald Trump in China for talks on North Korea and trade
China pulled out all the stops for President Donald Trump's Beijing airport arrival: honor guard, marching band, jumping children. Trump laughed at the antics of acrobats, then was serenaded by Chinese opera singers in elaborate headdresses and heavy make-up.
This is the 13th year that the NCAA has calculated data for the GSR and the Wolf Pack's rate has risen nine times in that span. This is the ninth-consecutive year where Texas Tech has maintained its score or improved from the year prior.
One of Barnhart's goals for UK Athletics is a composite 3.0 grade-point average for all student-athletes.
Furthermore, women's cross country/track programs ranked first in the Mountain West, while golf, soccer and men's tennis programs all tied for first in the conference. In addition, those same eight programs all have GSR rates that are equal or higher than the national average for each sport.
The GSR takes into account the many different academic paths followed by today's college students. "For us to once again be at the top of the USM institutions shows the dedication of our student-athletes, coaches and academic support staff". The NCAA also calculates the federal graduation rate for student-athletes because it is the only rate by which to compare student-athletes with the general student body.
Five Rutgers programs - women's basketball, field hockey, gymnastics, women's lacrosse and women's swimming - earned ideal GSR scores.
