Supreme Court Rejects Petition Filed Against Release Of 'Padmavati'

Padmavati row Sanjay Leela Bhansali releases video denies filming any dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Allaudin Khilji

Mumbai (Maharashtra), November 10: Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Prasoon Joshi has rejected one of its advisory panel members" statement against "Padmavati' director Sanjay Leela Bhansali that said the filmmaker should be tried for treason.

While yesterday we had reported how the Karni Sena had issued threats to the theatre owners in Rajasthan against screening the film, today, the Home Minister of the state has assured that the release of the film will not be jeopardised.

The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition against the release of the film "Padmavati", saying that it can not take over the duties of the Censor Board, the body certifies the film for release.

Gupta told News 18 that if he was present, he would have stopped the CBFC from clearing even the trailer of the movie, 'let alone the film'.

Equifax warns data breach will harm future sales
The global consumer business, which sells credit-monitoring and identity-protection tools, posted little change in revenue. Profits, however, were down 27 percent from the previous year at $96.3 million - in large part due to the breach.

Earlier in January, Bhansali was attacked and the film's set was vandalised while it was being shot in Rajasthan. "Has the film been placed before the censor board?"

Meanwhile, the Allahabad high court has asked a petitioner, seeking a ban on the movie on the ground that it allegedly propoagates the practice of Sati, to approach the censor board with his plea. The CBFC will now have to take the sentiments of the groups and history into account before certifying the film. It releases on 1st December 2017 globally.

The plea noted that the war-saga was based on the 13th century historical battle between Maharaja Ratan Singh and his army of Mewar and Sultan Alauddin Khilji of Delhi.

A division bench of justices Vikram Nath and Abdul Moin on Thursday refused to interfere into the matter. Rani Padmavati never danced, rather all women from royal families lived a very dignified life and whenever they felt that their chastity is in danger, they would jump into fire, so that nobody can touch them.
