Fewer NFL players kneel during anthem for Veterans Day weekend

13 November 2017, 02:20 | Pamela Mathis

Football fans who are exhausted of NFL players taking a knee during the playing of the national anthem are showing their displeasure this Veterans Day weekend by refusing to watch the games on TV.

The tavern's management says it was honoring Veterans Day this weekend by not showing the games, amid the ongoing controversy over NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.

"There has been no change in the current policy regarding the anthem ..."

However, the National Football League does not mandate that players stand, and so according to Eric Reid, who joined former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in the 2016 protests, many players have been taking a knee to protest police brutality and racial injustice.

Despite declining ratings, the National Football League recently announced that it will continue to allow the controversial protests to continue.
