Highlights from the opening round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa
Branden Grace heads the South African charge after Thursday's first round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted by Gary Player, thanks to a 68 which placed him one stroke off the lead of Austria's Bernd Wiesberger.
Grace, who announced himself on the world scene with four European Tour titles in 2012, started the day three behind Glaswegian Jamieson and two adrift of Dubuisson. The victory is the eighth of his European Tour career and first since the Qatar Masters early past year; an emotional win in the tournament styled as "Africa's major".
Jamieson settled for second a shot off the pace, while Dubuisson finished third on nine under.
With so many Nedbank Golf Challenge having been decided on this hole, the 2017 edition made for another one of these great moments.
On the front nine he made four birdies, but also four bogeys and three double bogeys, something he admitted after his round he would have to get right if he is to seriously challenge for the title on Sunday afternoon.
Jamieson admitted his initial feeling was disappointment but is confident this performance can help him in his bid to add to a victory in the 2013 Nelson Mandela Championship in Durban.
"This is the one event as a South African you want to win. It's exciting, and I'm in a good position", he said. It's a really tough course. I think it's because I've played the course very conservatively.
Dual Ryder Cup star Francesco Molinari produced the lowest round of the day with the Italian managing seven birdies in his bogey-free 65 to share fifth place on three-under par.
"The good thing was I was hitting it closer than they were (Jamieson and Dubuisson)".
"I am mentally prepared for tomorrow, big time. Hopefully I can pull off a Noren on Sunday", Grace joked about last year's victor Alex Noren, who turned around a six-shot deficit on the Sunday to win by six.
"So, every shot counts and every shot should count throughout the year".
In 63rd on the money list, Warren missed out on the final event of the season - Ian Poulter got in as last man - after finishing joint 66th, just ahead of Gallacher in 60th.
"It's a dream come true to win at Sun City and to win Africa's major", he said at the trophy presentation.
