West Indies' three-match Twenty20 (T20) series against Pakistan has been rescheduled for next March, and will form part of a bilateral agreement which will see the two sides face each other annually for the next five years, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced. The tour was to take place in November of 2017 but was postponed because of weather conditions in the country that were not deemed appropriate. Worldwide cricket was suspended in Pakistan after terrorists attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009, which killed eight people and injured several players.
Najam Sethi on Sunday said that the board is determined to host the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in Karachi in March next year.
Since the attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009 worldwide cricket in Pakistan was suspended but recently a limited over series with Zimbabwe, the Pakistan Super League final, Twenty20 series with a World XI were all held in Lahore. "So I am hopeful that this ends the whole speculation around cricket in Pakistan".
Sethi also highlighted how the PSL has helped in bringing cricket back home, saying that with the PSL final in Lahore, PCB was able to convince everyone to visit Pakistan and play cricket. This is not a one-off series, we have tied up with the Windies for a period of five years. The third participant is yet to be finalised. The matches would be played on 29March, 31 March and 1 April as Sethi informed.
Following the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009 outside the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, global teams didn't tour the country due to security fears.
