The meeting held under the chairmanship of Environment Secretary here on Friday made a decision to implement strict compliance of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) and all other directives issued by the courts, effective enforcement of ban on diesel gen-sets, brick kilns, stone crushers, hot mix plants, ban on entry of unauthorised trucks into Delhi and enhancing parking fee and capacity augmentation of public transport, a statement said.

The Punjab govt has weighed into the issue of crop burning, urging the Chief Minister of Indian Punjab Amarinder Singh to ban the practice that is behind a pollution crisis affecting large parts of both countries. "This smog is not because of stubble burning but due to industrial and vehicle pollution", Khaira told media.

Meanwhile, Punjab CM has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking compensation for farmers to check the risky trend of stubble burning.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued a slew of directions to deal with the worsening air quality in Delhi and neighbouring states, banning construction and industrial activities and entry of trucks, even as it criticised the Delhi government and civic bodies over the situation. The Government of India and the Punjab Government have been clearly directed to create a mechanism, give the farmers heavy tractors on rent. "The government has done nothing in the last two years", he claimed.
