Heartwarming moment a Liberal MP cries as he proposes to his boyfriend on the floor of parliament – and he says 'YES'

An emotional Wilson then turned to his partner, who was smiling and sitting in the public gallery: "Ryan Patrick Bolger, will you marry me?"

The occasion was the first time an MP has proposed on the floor of the House.

Mr Bolger was present in the chamber for the proposal and said "yes", prompting applause from all sides of politics.

Acting speaker Rob Mitchell asking for the answer, "a resounding yes" to be recorded in Hansard. The bill received the Senate's approval last week.
