Students shot at USA high school
Two suspects in Tuesday's shooting outside Graham-Kapowsin High School were in custody Wednesday, and one more unidentified suspect was on the loose, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said.
The Pierce County sheriff's office said one student was found in the parking lot by the Graham-Kapowsin High School football field and another was found in a locker room.
After deeming the campus secure, the sheriff's department and Bethel School District allowed students to be released. But before the fight started, someone in the getaway vehicle fired multiple rounds, hitting the two students.
"We think there was some type of altercation between two groups and we'll be sorting that out over the next few days", Troyer said.
Troyer also clarified that it appears the shooting happened across the street from the school, about 30 to 40 yards away and over a fence.
The shooting in Graham followed a fight on school grounds, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office. He confirmed once the authorities got a call regarding the shooting, police swept the area to look for possible suspects.
Court to hear New Jersey argument on legalizing sports gambling
Titus said 13 states have passed laws on gaming in anticipation of a Supreme Court ruling that would make sports wagering legal. The sports leagues originally sued the state of New Jersey in 2012, with the case finally reaching the Supreme Court this year.
Deputies who responded to the scene checked the school's grounds and found no signs any suspects were there.
The Bethel School District announced that three other schools were placed on lockdown in addition to Graham-Kapowsin: Frontier Middle School, Nelson Elementary School and Graham Elementary School.
Troyer said officials believe the shooting took place off school property and the wounded students ran back onto the campus. Shots were reportedly fired on the Eustis Hunt Rd. side of the campus.
In a prepared statement, district officials offered their " thoughts and prayers" for the students involved in the shooting and their families, and gave reassurance that students on the campus "are safe".
The Pierce County Sheriff's Office appealed for the public's help in identifying the two wanted suspects and tweeted that Crime Stoppers was offering a reward for information.
