Longford to endure freezing weather as Met Éireann issues'Status Orange warning

MET EIREANN have issued a new Status Orange weather warning for large parts of the country as temperatures are set to plummet to -6C tonight.

The warning is in place until 10am tomorrrow.

Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal are worst affected and the warning is in effect until 12 noon today. Very cold with severe air and ground frost returning.

"It will be cool this evening and early tonight with lowest temperatures around 1 to 6 degrees, but temperatures will gradually increase through the night".
