SAVAGE Seth Meyers wasted no time in blasting Harvey Weinstein
He then quipped: 'Harvey Weinstein isn't here tonight because I've heard rumours he's insane and hard to work with, but don't worry, he will be back in 20 years when he becomes the first person booed during the In Memoriam'.
He said when he heard the premise of the fantasy-drama The Shape of Water, a movie that leads the night with seven Golden Globe nominations, "I have to admit when I first heard about a film when a naive young girl falls in love with a disgusting sea monster I thought, 'Oh man, not another Woody Allen movie'". Meyers previously hosted the 66th Emmy Awards in 2015.
The opening monologue at the Golden Globes can often be more interesting and entertaining than the awards themselves.
Meyers equally dealt out scathing comments to Kevin Spacey and Woody Allen, both embroiled in their own sexual harassment scandals.
Moving away from the Weinstein scandal, Meyers also found time to make another dig at President Donald Trump.
Later, Meyers confronted "the elephant not in the room", aka accused sexual predator and former producer Harvey Weinstein. The audience audibly groaned when he predicted that Weinstein would be "the first person ever to be booed in the In Memoriam". This isn't merely a fashion trend, however-it's a powerful statement against a toxic dark side of Hollywood's culture.
OUCH Seth slammed Kevin Spacey for his role in House Of Cards
"Welcome ladies and remaining gentlemen", he said of all the men who have been alienated following stories of sexual assault and harassment over the past few months. But if it's any consolation, I'm a man with absolutely no power in Hollywood.
Meyers then said Issa Rae, star and creator of Insecure, has three projects in development. "Remember when he was the one making trouble with North Korea?"
"- said Kevin Spacey", Eichner interrupted, "'you lost me at 'of age'".
"Call Me By Your Name is nominated for Best Motion Picture, said Meyers".
In a similar vein, he joked that they could not find a woman host because they were told they would be "judged by some of the most powerful people in Hollywood" in a hotel - a reference to how Weinstein's victims say they were abused.
