When Craig Whitall fatally smashed his Toyota Prado four-wheel-drive into the Falkholt family's vehicle on his way home from a methadone clinic, the 50-year-old had been declared an habitual traffic offender by the courts with more than 60 convictions to his name.
According to the Daily Mail, Jessica's heartbroken family had kept a bedside vigil in the Intensive Care Unit at St George Hospital where Jessica had been in a medically induced coma.

He also thanked the "saviours" who risked their lives to pull Annabelle and Jessica from the inferno. Annabelle was flown to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition but died three days later.

Lars and Vivian died at the crash scene on the Princes Highway near Sussex Inlet, south of Sydney. It's believed he was driving home from the methadone clinic with an investigation taking place on whether he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash.
It has been revealed Craig - who also died in the fiery collision - had served four jail sentences for traffic offences, was banned for driving for nine years and had at least 10 convictions for driving while disqualified, The Daily Telegraph reported.
"The irony of this tragedy is that Lars was such a careful driver", he said.
Annabelle Falkholt's best friend, Brittany Macchetta said that Annabelle had a strong passion for travel, Harry Potter and the arts even quoting a line from Harry Potter in her speech, "The ones who love us never really leave us, you can always find them in here (the heart)", highlighting her love for her best friend.
